Calling Tech Support!

For anyone who may have the foggiest idea about computers, two very important (for me, anyway) questions.

I've had my laptop about nine months. Aside from the occasional freezing, which happens to every computer, it's worked like a dream. No complaints. No sign of glaring flaws.

1. Last night, a few of my keys started acting up. My 2 key would display 23, my w key we, my s key sd, and my x key xc. I couldn't figure out why and it persisted. It happened briefly with the 3, e, d, and c keys (32, ew, ds, cx), but that went away fairly quickly.

I took off the keys to check if anything was catching underneath them -- nothing. If you press the rubber portion of the key directly, it did the same thing.

Does anyone know what might be causing that?

2. When I took off the S key, the black portion holding the rubber bit to the keyboard broke off. I'm somewhat at a loss as to how to reattach it. Anyone know how, or have any other ideas as to how to keep the rubber bit in place?

I feel a bit guilty, because the laptop's less than a year old -- and also, I type at 101 WPM, and having keys missing/screwing up and forcing me to type slower is extremely annoying. Help, someone?

Oh yes. Announcement...type...thing. XD

As promised, I will be on AIM and MSN more often now that I'm free. MSN name'll be the same (my Hotmail addy, mme_enjolras), but I've made with the new AIM screenname, for no reason other than I've had the same one for about two years now and I'm bored. XD

New screenname's stylus et ensis, because I am cool and know Latin. Or something. XD; So add me and IM me and whatnot. *love*

Big Damn Musicpost

Hokay. So. I had the urge to, out of the blue, make a really really huge musicpost. Mainly because I had a variety of songs under a few categories I felt like sharing. And the list sort of...escalated from two or so into seven categories. Fifty-two songs. So...a few of my favourite things ("the best of", so to speak -- or rather, "the best of" what I have, compiled from fanmixes, other music posts, and my own CDs). Enjoy! :D

I Want To Break Free -- http://s43.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=0RDUHBQU12OZ3BCYV61V8KBR8
Two words: Tony. Vincent. (And Hannah Jane Fox, but -- Tony.) This is the first song in which you really hear him, and...eeeee.

Under Pressure -- http://s43.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=281X8G5GX437D23WYEHN9YKM4H
Again, Tony and Hannah. No songs with only Tony in here, unfortunately. But they go well together.

I Want It All -- http://s43.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=0AMMLQQKL6E2T1V7ARIYCNOVCZ
This is one of those songs you hear, you love, and you immediately want the original, if you haven't already heard it (which I haven't). I would love to hear Queen singing this, as...it's a very winning song.

Who Wants To Live Forever -- http://s43.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=2W8KHC6K0GFBA3LAME31KFQSZF
Possibly the only song on this CD I would rather hear Tony than Queen sing. He does it brilliantly, and the song's amazing, of course.

Another One Bites The Dust -- http://s43.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=0PM3HKSWXIFJD27NH481Z7KRZ5
My second favourite Queen song ever, done by a black woman. I know, right? XD It's great.

We Will Rock You -- http://s43.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=3N0BZE32Z0QAU0MONJWWB2J5OG
Tonygasm inna mp3 file. Seriously. Who doesn't love WWRY? Nobody. Especially after A Knight's Tale. And -- eeee. Tony wins at it a lot.

Bohemian Rhapsody -- http://s43.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=36VTQYIK5I4WO0636SWKAVG2L6
And, of course, there are no words for BoRhap. None. It's just...wow. Must be heard. Must must must.

Who Wants To Live Forever -- http://s57.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=0GBKC74GDOZTW3U150F11MG6J8
I only heard this original a while ago, but I love it. It's a very pretty song and whenever I'm singing it in my head, it switches versions. XD

Princes of the Universe -- http://s57.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=1HVVOJT0YPY011VCKKPUKEJO63
Since I got this song out of rhombal's Heaven and Hell fanmix, it will always remind me of demons. XD But yeah, great song (as if I'd say otherwise about Queen) and gets stuck in your head quickly, which is annoying when you don't remember all the lyrics.

Bohemian Rhapsody -- http://s43.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=1PNRLAZSYTL1B127U0LTMO9HSP
This song? Is at number three on my most-played on iTunes, it being the only song in the top five I haven't spent full days listening to to get to that spot. That should say something about my mad love for this song. If I ever had to pick a single song to be my favourite, this would be it, and if you haven't heard it yet, out of every other song on this musicpost, I recommend downloading this one.

Another One Bites The Dust -- http://s57.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=2GER0BD8GDEDP2TFBW35M51NVE
My second favourite <s>Tchaikovsky</s> Queen song ever. And the only one I actually managed to get my little sister addicted to (she thinks BoRhap is weird ;__;), of which I'm still very proud.

I'm Going Slightly Mad -- http://s57.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=3NLOQMAVGLBTZ11NGHJ89855O8
This song is just...fun. I can't count the amount of times I've mentally hummed it due to actually being close to going mad. It fits in life way too often. XD

Either Way -- http://s57.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=1VURN4S48N10730M30DBI2YK1Z
It is entirely possible that I have an unhealthy obsession with the Beelzebubs of Tufts University. I mean. They are amazing. I want to marry every single generation of them, ever. ...anyway, this was the first song of theirs I ever heard. I actually prefer this to the original (which I can say once I've heard said original, eee).

Semi-Charmed Life -- http://s57.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=35SIRZJUHBHQS0MRWHYFAHQWSZ
This song on its own is squee-worthy. Done a capella, by said Beelzebubs, it's...eeeee. ^___^

With Or Without You -- http://s37.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=3L5AEX2J3EA452HWUITWUSAONV
sdhfkjahkfjhak a capellagasm. I have no idea why I'm so in love with their rendition of this song <s>apart from me being a hopeless fangirl</s>, but...wow. It's absolutely wonderful, and I'm so glad I was able to rip it off the website. >:D

That's The Way I Like It -- http://s57.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=39ODOQE2L6LMG3B0ZWJIW0FBM4
Oh, this is such a fun song. XD I mean, the original is catchy enough (and I always associate it with Flubber *facepalm*), but a capella songs just have a way of...making them even more so. And this is just...it's great. This is possibly my favourite Beelzebubs rendition of a song, which is saying something.

Iris -- http://s49.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=1EQVGDVXFWN5Y0MZFS4MSYO97S
ROCKAPELLA TIME. :D I have a sadly tiny amount of songs of theirs (read: the two I'm uploading here), but...zomg Rockapella. And I love Iris on general principle, so...the background vocals for this are just amazing.

Bohemian Rhapsody -- http://s57.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=0EU2B76JOY3IF17UJUMSMB6NAC
Wow. What kind of hopeless geek puts three versions of a song in the same musicpost? XD; But -- yeah, couldn't not upload this. A capella Bohemian Rhapsody oh my God.</i>

Dare You To Move -- http://s57.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=18VVRLNKG7CK53DRK7FQG5EKLW
I'll confess here to never having heard the original of this. Stunning, innit? XD But I doubt I'll like it more than this, because this is really well-done. (The MadHatters here. :D)

Deliver Us -- http://s49.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=0T9Z9E7P09XFO3BVSATQSW5P0I
You know how I remember this song? Tenth grade, watching The Prince Of Egypt in French class, in French, when I'd never seen it before, even in English. And opening with this song, and John singing along to the French lyrics in English. The Prince Of Egypt is seriously one of my favourite movies, and the music is maybe half the reason. So. This song is happy. :D -- well, not really. But.

Through Heaven's Eyes -- http://s49.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=3S4HBLHK42LZ82FVMEDBOLFAOI
Brian. Stokes. Mitchell. As a Midian priest. :D :D :D This song is happymaking. And this time, it really is! XD

Playing With The Big Boys -- http://s49.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=2TYDEBUU18ZCT3LQUMNNQ5X7CV
Hello, Steve Martin and Martin Short singing about Egyptian gods. The movie version of this amuses me a lot.

The Plagues -- http://s49.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=0KDRFEBXBC9J11WOI6WF1BD5NX
This? This is such an amazing song. Omg, this song. This scene. I love it. So, so much. So madly. Omg. It's a thing of absolute beauty and utter pwn.

Children of the Revolution -- http://s57.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=04MXJE1K15JSQ10F2YVCWTRG74
Not really from Moulin Rouge itself, but off the soundtrack. Oh, this version of this song is such love. Both when taken in moviecontext and on its own. :D

Elephant Love Medley -- http://s57.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=3S09SOXEBFFM90BXM2EYDUZD5K
This always makes me giggle. I'm -- not really sure why. But it's a great mix of love songs, and they both have great voices. ^^

El Tango De Roxanne -- http://s57.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=3EQR7WG4GDWP62ERIJJQZJ0WKK
Hands-down my favourite song from Moulin Rouge. Hands-down my favourite scene of Moulin Rouge. The camerawork, the music, the emotion, the intensity. God, it's brilliant. And only part of it can be captured without video, sadly, but...still amazing. :D

Feel -- http://s57.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=0IAWA9I9BDNXC02LRDF8GYE1RH
This was actually the...fourth or so MB20 song I ever heard, methinks. (First three being If You're Gone, Bent -- two down -- and Unwell.) And the first from the CD I actually owned. And as such, I am fairly biased towards it. It's a great song, even MB20-ness aside. The sort of style I especially love.

Argue -- http://s57.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=2K87NH2BDS7FA30FKFAVTA9SSS
I fell rather in love with the first few notes of this song. :D It's perfectly characteristic of what I typically love about MB20, and...ironically enough I can't describe it at all. XD I think if you know MB20, you know what I mean, and if you listen to this song you may vaguely pick up on what I'm talking about.

Bent -- http://s57.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=266SXW2TN14N00MGYRT901XOVC
As mentioned, the second MB20 song I ever heard. In fact, shortly after first hearing it, I proceeded not to hear it again for about...two or three years, at least. And I would still find myself with it randomly stuck in my head. This song stays with you. I love it.

You're So Real -- http://s57.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=3Q8M4Y06LXKAR286XXKPZXTWS8
I can't remember if it's this song or a completely different song (that's the same number, 11, as this one is on More Than You Think You Are) that I blame Justin for addicting me to. If it's this one, which I think it is, he was mentioning his favourite songs from MTYTYA after he burned me the CD, and this was one of them. I have no idea if I would have liked it so much if he hadn't, but I still really, really do. *<3 Rob Thomas*

Busted -- http://s57.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=3LNMV8RMEIU3F1IJSDY6B7KL3Z
Another song I fell in love with after hearing the first few notes. And the lyrics are -- well, they're winning. It's great. :D

The Difference -- http://s57.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=3MW6UWX6C7Z4G2V79NKPTHH3C8
...do me a favour and plz to be ignoring So Sad So Lonely, which is attached to this track as a bonus. XD; I debated as to whether I should upload this one at all or not, actually, due to said attachment -- it isn't that I don't like the song, but The Difference is the one I really want people to hear. This is...quite possibly my favourite MB20 song of all. It's one of my feel-good songs, which is...kind of odd, as it's also sad.

All That I Am -- http://s62.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=248MYHD98JJCT0QWIE6DQTLXPF
Oh, Rob Thomas, how I love you. This song is really sweet and, while most of the stuff he's done (both solo and with MB20) in this style doesn't really grab me, this one did.

Something To Be -- http://s56.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=33A1FYVMGFUNV0L9RKDYPAZ2D5
Title song! I admit, took note of this only because the first verse made me choke and go "OMG DID HE JUST SAY 'WHORE'?!" But. It's a great song. One of the best off the CD, IMHO. :D

The Fallen -- http://s57.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=2X31681W1D9F11GI4DXUVOBZ1R
If I could describe how I felt about this song in one word, that word would probably be fshdfkjhagkfgakgfvbakuegbfvksaufh. It's impossible. And, you know, I still can't tell you why. It's the music and the lyrics and Franz Ferdinand, and -- it's love. It's my most-played song on iTunes, and...I just love it. I love it. My second pick of the list after BoRhap, hands-down.

Outsiders -- http://s49.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=3RU4BNKHME3MW3NQLV2I1AS1GQ
It's really, really sad that I think of this as a feel-good song. I mean. The lyrics are rather depressing. XD But the music's so upbeat, and Franz Ferdinand is my feel-good band in general. But it's great. :D

Falling Of The Rain -- http://s49.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=0BXSLEI246GMH2Z2TRCIYGTJLN
I first started listening to this because it was, and always will be for me, an Angie!song. And about...a week or two ago, it came up on iTunes shuffle and I had a moment of ".....whoa, this is an amazing song." So yes, it's one of my favourites of Billy Joel's now. ^_^

We Didn't Start The Fire -- http://s49.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=1MAVIHJYLNCF92V6SNGQS3FOZZ
And this here is my favourite Billy Joel song ever. With a few possible exceptions I haven't heard in way too long due to my sad lack of actual Billy Joel CDs and the really bad organization of my music files. But yes. The R&J girls played this in the dressing room before the show's second night, methinks, and it made me squeeful. :D

Digging Stone -- http://s56.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=3RGARON7VPLR42VWM537GWUX8G
I've heard the rest of The Spitfire Grill, or most of it, but this is the song that stuck with me. And the first one I listened to on iTunes for two days on end. (It's still second on my most played.) It's a great song. Like. Music, lyrics, vocals, everything. Really. ^_____^

Sympathy For The Devil -- http://s56.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=1EVGZZ0X5IP8V1COWSEUYMJS9E
A classic. I narrowly missed the Rolling Stones when they were in Amsterdam. By, like, a few days. Suckage, no? >__> But I love this song. It's fun. :D

It's Probably Me -- http://s56.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=28IF8YDQLLZG138AYUTDMH6JUN
I love Sting. A lot. Sting is win. And this song is just -- it's beautiful. And sweet. And holds so many meanings for me, it's really rather sad. XD;

The Noose -- http://s56.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=2PQ3OFRQ15G4Y16HQMKYO94U0D
A Perfect Circle is one of those bands that wins at life, the universe, and everything. I find myself in desperate need of their "Imagine" cover, because it's keyboardmashingly amazing. And this song is...well, slot five in my top played, and also...I can't think of the right word, but...really, really great song. I don't do it justice at all.

Unconditional -- http://s56.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=2E2G0WM9NMSDP0VN5TD27MY4TX
The Bravery! I adore all three of their songs I've heard. :D; And this is probably my favourite. It's -- well, it's true. Of a lot of people and situations.

Scarborough Fair -- http://s57.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=2RL0XJUX314OA0RHVDWQWQ36ZE
I personally am of the opinion that this is the most gorgeous song ever. I have a cover by Sarah Brightman too, but -- the Simon & Garfunkel cover here is my first love. And it includes the canticle, which the other doesn't. It's...yes. Amazing and lovely and altogether wonderful.

Thank You For The Venom -- http://s56.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=3O2JBMYSIRWU21PZ92NOP9HNT7
This one is entirely Peri's fault. XD My Chemical Romance, because they're cool, and this song because...well, it's a winning song and also the IWWNTTO song. And number four on my most-played on iTunes. ^^;

Who I Am Hates Who I've Been -- http://s56.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=36BOM6QQZ0HHD1JQ0P2HMELAIH
I had to have at least one Relient K song on here, and out of the four I have I chose this one. :D Mainly because this is another one of those songs that can apply to many situations in life in general. And also, Relient K.

Time Warp -- http://s56.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=2S28PF02BSQLV177S7OFMC2L6G
And finally, the Broadway revival cast of RHPS performs the first version of Time Warp I ever heard. :D <s>NOTE DAPHNE RUBIN-VEGA AND MAKE DISTURBING RENT/RHPS PARALLELS LIKE I DID.</s> :D Yes. Everyone should have this song.

Feel free to direct anyone you want here, O Flist -- I spent forever compiling this and I'd like people to make good use of it. :D; Will reupload any songs per request. ^__^

I DEVELOPED MY FINAL ROLL FOR PHOTOGRAPHY TODAY. ^___________^ As people who've spoken to me on the days I develop film can probably tell, I'm insane with anxiety the day before and absolutely ecstatic once it comes out. For one, because you put so much creative effort and time into shooting the film, and then it takes thirty minutes to an hour to develop, and you really want it to come out well, y'know? And for another, photography is a really big deal to me -- I love art, but I've always been terrified that I suck at every form of it. But I'm doing well in Photo, and I love it, and Ms. Loeffler told me I have talent. :D :D :D The roll came out excellent, and -- eeeeeeeeee. ^_________^

sfhdjasdhfjkahfa I have insane amounts of reading to do for USH, omg. x____x

Memething yoinked from Ally, Gabe, and 'lona -- I love this one, so ask away. :D

The problem with LJ is this: we all think we are so close, but really we know nothing about each other. So, I want you to ask me something you think you should know about me. Something that should be obvious, but you have no idea about. Ask away. Then, post this in your LJ and find out what people don't know about you.

Observe as Maja tries to write an English essay and instead lets her brain (on three hours of sleep and a USH DBQ) take over.

"Diction is very important to life. It is also apparently importany, whatever the hell that means. Who cares, anyway? WTF was that "q" doing in "anyway"? Also, fingers, there is no "m" in "anyway", WTF. And this really has no relevance to anything and will be deleted soon anyway and dammit I really lose at spelling and this tis me typing swithout suding backspace and this is really really fnui and this is the onboibgengjhdukghdrukghoreurit anyway. Ahem. Longest run-on sentence ever except I justr stopped ity a while ago and - lost my trasin of tjought. ... Anyway. Yes.
Just because...I need to hear it.

Tell me something you hate about me. Please. Make it blunt, make it straightforward, make it tactful, make it hard, but make it honest. And don't say things like..."you have low self-esteem" or whatever. Please, make it something real. Even if it's stupid, even if it's petty, even if it's something I can't change. Make it anonymous if you don't want me to know I said it. I don't know how to log IP addresses and am too lazy to find out who was who even if I knew how, or wanted to. I don't care. I just want to hear it. No matter what you want to say, please say it. There has to be something about me someone can't stand.

...that's all, really.

THIS IS POST #777.

You know what this means, of course. <s>Aside from the fact that I wrote 111 entries in two and a half months.</s>

It means...that God approves of this entry. <s>Because I text her, of course. (<3 Rainee.)</s>

But it also means something else. Yes, you know the drill.

SPAM TIME, AGAIN.

Have at it, dearlings. ♥

So I definitely got four hours of sleep after the most amazing opening night ever. Seeing the whole show tonight for the first time, thoughts will follow.

And...in less than half an hour after waking up, between about 6:10 and 6:30, I wrote a little under 700 words on my NaNo, after a week or so of not writing anything.

I've been insanely happy/bouncy/hyper and insanely exhausted/sleepy/tired all day.

I'm possibly going slightly mad.

Is it normal to still have a post-show high fifteen hours after it opens?

Because I felt like it, and I only have one more entry before 777...some more '04-'05 quotepage material!

"How do you separate the Greek men from the Greek boys? With a crowbar."

"I like it when she kicks my ass."

"We're discriminating against discrimination."

"I'm Western European. I mean, Eastern European."
"Yeah, 'cause Armenia's right between Spain and France."

"We love you, Mr. Burns!"
"Say it with cash."

"She's trying to find a nice way to tell us we're stupid."

"He's standing on the surface of Uranus."
"He's an asstronaut."

"Where are we going?"
"Straight to Hell. In the HOV lane."

"I told her 'Those boots are ugly', and she was like, 'Shut up, you're ugly.'"

"I approach black holes all the time."

"Break a leg."
"Is that a threat?"

"I'll e-mail your mom."
"My mom's out of town."
"She can still check her e-mail."
"She's in Oklahoma. They don't have computers."

"I have to leave in a little short - a lit - a short - ...in a while that is not long."

"I'm on a two-and-a-half-year-old's mental level right now."
"How is that different from any other day?"

"I hate taking down the set. It's like setting fire to Rome."

"If you stay the whole time, I'll even let you use power tools, like a hammer."

"I have a prior engagement."
"You're going to an engagement? Who's getting engaged?"
"...I am."

"He was based on the man who fixed the 1919 World Series."
"...What was wrong with it?"
Direct. Bloody. Quote. I swear. And said in all seriousness. The people in my school. Seriously.

"Why are you hating on Cliff?"
"'Cause he's stupid."

"When I left on Thursday, Aram was standing at the board, writing and talking. When I came back today, Aram's standing at the board, writing and talking. There's no evidence that he ever left."

"He has the same work habits as Cliff."
"What are they?"
"None."

"Why was that so crappy?"
Asked of me by our pit orchestra guitarist. After we finished playing a song. I found it amusing. XD

"All I heard was Becca saying 'But you can't do that with cats!'"
"...But you can do it with gerbils."
...There's an explanation. I swear. XD

"I don't throw popsicle sticks everywhere. I throw papers all over my desk. That's different."

"I was here at the morning this library."

"Sorry for having fruity-smelling fruit yogurt."

"Look at all the trash we consumed!"
Misspoken. XD

"It's like the lady who found a finger in her Wendy's chili."
"It's finger-lickin' good!"

"Russell would benefit from smoking dope."
"...Are you legally able to tell us that?"

"People in English and History classes do better when they smoke dope, because the teachers are smoking dope, too."

"Why are there coffee stains on the ceiling?"
"That's not coffee, it's water."
"...why is there brown water on the ceiling?"

"The female orangutan can't say no."
"Maybe because they can't talk?"

"Instead of 'elle a toujours raison', she is always right, you put 'elle a toujours raisin', she always has grapes."

"Don't miss the cue.
