*sad smile* This tiny magazine in Norway was stupid enough to reprint the charicatures over here as well. So they have burnt our embassy in Damaskus too >_<

I know >_< Our minister of foreign affairs has clearly said that this is very regrettable, and not something the state supports, but at the same time he cannot really say that he believe it is illegal...because of the freedom of speech. *sighs* I do understand the offence muslims must feel ~ but to actually burn places and let all the anger be turned on a whole country instead of the actual person in question...that is terrible. At the same time, I keep asking myself if that is not something the west does with the east sometimes too. *sighs* Sometimes the world is screwed up...

Yeeeah. It's impossible to stop it, really, but it's incredibly sad that it has to happen. That's the way humans are, sadly.

I'm all for free speech, and I'm not saying that folks should be blowing up embassies, but it's pretty much an asshole move to go out of one's way to offend other peoples' religious sensibilities.

We had a HUGE discussion about this in social studies a couple weeks ago. Not working good for me that I'm half Danish and half Norwegian XD
We have three muslims in our class, and they got quite angry in the end, but at least they see things from our perspective, too.

Nah, but really. It's a difficult case, innit? Because on one hand, hello, freedom of speech, and it's not like christians would go ballistic if muslims did charicatures of Jesus or God. Not all of them, anyway. But on the other hand, it's all a matter of perspective. Muslims don'thave that kind of freedom of speech, and they don't understand, it seems.
Also, it would probably be best if it had been respected that it's a big no-no to depict Muhammed, because he is perfect and nothing man-made is perfect and blah blah blah.

Eh, I dunno. More respect, and less overreacting would probably do a hella lot of good.

This whole thing is so stupid, really. And endless, it seems.
