Big Damn Musicpost
Hokay. So. I had the urge to, out of the blue, make a really really huge musicpost. Mainly because I had a variety of songs under a few categories I felt like sharing. And the list sort of...escalated from two or so into seven categories. Fifty-two songs. So...a few of my favourite things ("the best of", so to speak -- or rather, "the best of" what I have, compiled from fanmixes, other music posts, and my own CDs). Enjoy! :D
I Want To Break Free -- http://s43.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=0RDU
Two words: Tony. Vincent. (And Hannah Jane Fox, but -- Tony.) This is the first song in which you really hear him, and...eeeee.
Under Pressure -- http://s43.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=281X
Again, Tony and Hannah. No songs with only Tony in here, unfortunately. But they go well together.
I Want It All -- http://s43.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=0AMM
This is one of those songs you hear, you love, and you immediately want the original, if you haven't already heard it (which I haven't). I would love to hear Queen singing this, as...it's a very winning song.
Who Wants To Live Forever -- http://s43.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=2W8K
Possibly the only song on this CD I would rather hear Tony than Queen sing. He does it brilliantly, and the song's amazing, of course.
Another One Bites The Dust -- http://s43.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=0PM3
My second favourite Queen song ever, done by a black woman. I know, right? XD It's great.
We Will Rock You -- http://s43.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=3N0B
Tonygasm inna mp3 file. Seriously. Who doesn't love WWRY? Nobody. Especially after A Knight's Tale. And -- eeee. Tony wins at it a lot.
Bohemian Rhapsody -- http://s43.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=36VT
And, of course, there are no words for BoRhap. None. It's just...wow. Must be heard. Must must must.
Who Wants To Live Forever -- http://s57.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=0GBK
I only heard this original a while ago, but I love it. It's a very pretty song and whenever I'm singing it in my head, it switches versions. XD
Princes of the Universe -- http://s57.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=1HVV
Since I got this song out of
rhombal's Heaven and Hell fanmix, it will always remind me of demons. XD But yeah, great song (as if I'd say otherwise about Queen) and gets stuck in your head quickly, which is annoying when you don't remember all the lyrics.
Bohemian Rhapsody -- http://s43.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=1PNR
This song? Is at number three on my most-played on iTunes, it being the only song in the top five I haven't spent full days listening to to get to that spot. That should say something about my mad love for this song. If I ever had to pick a single song to be my favourite, this would be it, and if you haven't heard it yet, out of every other song on this musicpost, I recommend downloading this one.
Another One Bites The Dust -- http://s57.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=2GER
My second favourite Tchaikovsky Queen song ever. And the only one I actually managed to get my little sister addicted to (she thinks BoRhap is weird ;__;), of which I'm still very proud.
I'm Going Slightly Mad -- http://s57.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=3NLO
This song is just...fun. I can't count the amount of times I've mentally hummed it due to actually being close to going mad. It fits in life way too often. XD
Either Way -- http://s57.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=1VUR
It is entirely possible that I have an unhealthy obsession with the Beelzebubs of Tufts University. I mean. They are amazing. I want to marry every single generation of them, ever. ...anyway, this was the first song of theirs I ever heard. I actually prefer this to the original (which I can say once I've heard said original, eee).
Semi-Charmed Life -- http://s57.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=35SI
This song on its own is squee-worthy. Done a capella, by said Beelzebubs, it's...eeeee. ^___^
With Or Without You -- http://s37.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=3L5A
sdhfkjahkfjhak a capellagasm. I have no idea why I'm so in love with their rendition of this song apart from me being a hopeless fangirl, but...wow. It's absolutely wonderful, and I'm so glad I was able to rip it off the website. >:D
That's The Way I Like It -- http://s57.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=39OD
Oh, this is such a fun song. XD I mean, the original is catchy enough (and I always associate it with Flubber *facepalm*), but a capella songs just have a way of...making them even more so. And this is just...it's great. This is possibly my favourite Beelzebubs rendition of a song, which is saying something.
Iris -- http://s49.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=1EQV
ROCKAPELLA TIME. :D I have a sadly tiny amount of songs of theirs (read: the two I'm uploading here), but...zomg Rockapella. And I love Iris on general principle, so...the background vocals for this are just amazing.
Bohemian Rhapsody -- http://s57.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=0EU2
Wow. What kind of hopeless geek puts three versions of a song in the same musicpost? XD; But -- yeah, couldn't not upload this. A capella Bohemian Rhapsody oh my God.</i>
Dare You To Move -- http://s57.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=18VVR
I'll confess here to never having heard the original of this. Stunning, innit? XD But I doubt I'll like it more than this, because this is really well-done. (The MadHatters here. :D)
Deliver Us -- http://s49.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=0T9Z9
You know how I remember this song? Tenth grade, watching The Prince Of Egypt in French class, in French, when I'd never seen it before, even in English. And opening with this song, and John singing along to the French lyrics in English. The Prince Of Egypt is seriously one of my favourite movies, and the music is maybe half the reason. So. This song is happy. :D -- well, not really. But.
Through Heaven's Eyes -- http://s49.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=3S4HB
Brian. Stokes. Mitchell. As a Midian priest. :D :D :D This song is happymaking. And this time, it really is! XD
Playing With The Big Boys -- http://s49.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=2TYDE
Hello, Steve Martin and Martin Short singing about Egyptian gods. The movie version of this amuses me a lot.
The Plagues -- http://s49.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=0KDRF
This? This is such an amazing song. Omg, this song. This scene. I love it. So, so much. So madly. Omg. It's a thing of absolute beauty and utter pwn.
Children of the Revolution -- http://s57.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=04MXJ
Not really from Moulin Rouge itself, but off the soundtrack. Oh, this version of this song is such love. Both when taken in moviecontext and on its own. :D
Elephant Love Medley -- http://s57.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=3S09S
This always makes me giggle. I'm -- not really sure why. But it's a great mix of love songs, and they both have great voices. ^^
El Tango De Roxanne -- http://s57.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=3EQR7
Hands-down my favourite song from Moulin Rouge. Hands-down my favourite scene of Moulin Rouge. The camerawork, the music, the emotion, the intensity. God, it's brilliant. And only part of it can be captured without video, sadly, but...still amazing. :D
Feel -- http://s57.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=0IAWA
This was actually the...fourth or so MB20 song I ever heard, methinks. (First three being If You're Gone, Bent -- two down -- and Unwell.) And the first from the CD I actually owned. And as such, I am fairly biased towards it. It's a great song, even MB20-ness aside. The sort of style I especially love.
Argue -- http://s57.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=2K87N
I fell rather in love with the first few notes of this song. :D It's perfectly characteristic of what I typically love about MB20, and...ironically enough I can't describe it at all. XD I think if you know MB20, you know what I mean, and if you listen to this song you may vaguely pick up on what I'm talking about.
Bent -- http://s57.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=266SX
As mentioned, the second MB20 song I ever heard. In fact, shortly after first hearing it, I proceeded not to hear it again for about...two or three years, at least. And I would still find myself with it randomly stuck in my head. This song stays with you. I love it.
You're So Real -- http://s57.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=3Q8M4
I can't remember if it's this song or a completely different song (that's the same number, 11, as this one is on More Than You Think You Are) that I blame Justin for addicting me to. If it's this one, which I think it is, he was mentioning his favourite songs from MTYTYA after he burned me the CD, and this was one of them. I have no idea if I would have liked it so much if he hadn't, but I still really, really do. *<3 Rob Thomas*
Busted -- http://s57.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=3LNMV
Another song I fell in love with after hearing the first few notes. And the lyrics are -- well, they're winning. It's great. :D
The Difference -- http://s57.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=3MW6U
...do me a favour and plz to be ignoring So Sad So Lonely, which is attached to this track as a bonus. XD; I debated as to whether I should upload this one at all or not, actually, due to said attachment -- it isn't that I don't like the song, but The Difference is the one I really want people to hear. This is...quite possibly my favourite MB20 song of all. It's one of my feel-good songs, which is...kind of odd, as it's also sad.
All That I Am -- http://s62.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=248MY
Oh, Rob Thomas, how I love you. This song is really sweet and, while most of the stuff he's done (both solo and with MB20) in this style doesn't really grab me, this one did.
Something To Be -- http://s56.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=33A1F
Title song! I admit, took note of this only because the first verse made me choke and go "OMG DID HE JUST SAY 'WHORE'?!" But. It's a great song. One of the best off the CD, IMHO. :D
The Fallen -- http://s57.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=2X316
If I could describe how I felt about this song in one word, that word would probably be fshdfkjhagkfgakgfvbakuegbfvksaufh. It's impossible. And, you know, I still can't tell you why. It's the music and the lyrics and Franz Ferdinand, and -- it's love. It's my most-played song on iTunes, and...I just love it. I love it. My second pick of the list after BoRhap, hands-down.
Outsiders -- http://s49.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=3RU4B
It's really, really sad that I think of this as a feel-good song. I mean. The lyrics are rather depressing. XD But the music's so upbeat, and Franz Ferdinand is my feel-good band in general. But it's great. :D
Falling Of The Rain -- http://s49.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=0BXSL
I first started listening to this because it was, and always will be for me, an Angie!song. And about...a week or two ago, it came up on iTunes shuffle and I had a moment of ".....whoa, this is an amazing song." So yes, it's one of my favourites of Billy Joel's now. ^_^
We Didn't Start The Fire -- http://s49.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=1MAVI
And this here is my favourite Billy Joel song ever. With a few possible exceptions I haven't heard in way too long due to my sad lack of actual Billy Joel CDs and the really bad organization of my music files. But yes. The R&J girls played this in the dressing room before the show's second night, methinks, and it made me squeeful. :D
Digging Stone -- http://s56.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=3RGAR
I've heard the rest of The Spitfire Grill, or most of it, but this is the song that stuck with me. And the first one I listened to on iTunes for two days on end. (It's still second on my most played.) It's a great song. Like. Music, lyrics, vocals, everything. Really. ^_____^
Sympathy For The Devil -- http://s56.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=1EVGZ
A classic. I narrowly missed the Rolling Stones when they were in Amsterdam. By, like, a few days. Suckage, no? >__> But I love this song. It's fun. :D
It's Probably Me -- http://s56.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=28IF8
I love Sting. A lot. Sting is win. And this song is just -- it's beautiful. And sweet. And holds so many meanings for me, it's really rather sad. XD;
The Noose -- http://s56.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=2PQ3O
A Perfect Circle is one of those bands that wins at life, the universe, and everything. I find myself in desperate need of their "Imagine" cover, because it's keyboardmashingly amazing. And this song is...well, slot five in my top played, and also...I can't think of the right word, but...really, really great song. I don't do it justice at all.
Unconditional -- http://s56.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=2E2G0
The Bravery! I adore all three of their songs I've heard. :D; And this is probably my favourite. It's -- well, it's true. Of a lot of people and situations.
Scarborough Fair -- http://s57.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=2RL0X
I personally am of the opinion that this is the most gorgeous song ever. I have a cover by Sarah Brightman too, but -- the Simon & Garfunkel cover here is my first love. And it includes the canticle, which the other doesn't. It's...yes. Amazing and lovely and altogether wonderful.
Thank You For The Venom -- http://s56.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=3O2JB
This one is entirely Peri's fault. XD My Chemical Romance, because they're cool, and this song because...well, it's a winning song and also the IWWNTTO song. And number four on my most-played on iTunes. ^^;
Who I Am Hates Who I've Been -- http://s56.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=36BOM
I had to have at least one Relient K song on here, and out of the four I have I chose this one. :D Mainly because this is another one of those songs that can apply to many situations in life in general. And also, Relient K.
Time Warp -- http://s56.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=2S28P
And finally, the Broadway revival cast of RHPS performs the first version of Time Warp I ever heard. :D NOTE DAPHNE RUBIN-VEGA AND MAKE DISTURBING RENT/RHPS PARALLELS LIKE I DID. :D Yes. Everyone should have this song.
Feel free to direct anyone you want here, O Flist -- I spent forever compiling this and I'd like people to make good use of it. :D; Will reupload any songs per request. ^__^
